Dharmendra gets into legal trouble for Garam Dharam Dhaba franchise case

The case was filed by Delhi businessman Sushil Kumar, who alleged that he was lured into investing in the franchise and the summons was issued by Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Yashdeep Chahal.

In the summons order issued on December 5, the judge stated, “The evidence on record prima facie indicates that the accused persons induced the complainant in furtherance of their common intent and the ingredients of the offence of cheating are duly disclosed.”

The court order stated, “Accordingly, let the accused persons at serial number 1 (Dharam Singh Deol), 2 and 3 be summoned for the commission of offences under section 420, 120B read with section 34 IPC. Let the accused persons at serial no. 2 and 3 be also summoned for the offence of criminal intimidation under section 506 of IPC.”

The matter has been listed for further hearing on February 20, 2025, and advocate DD Pandey appeared for the complainant, Sushil Kumar. As per the advocate, the case dates back to April 2018, in which Kumar was approached by co-accused representatives on behalf of Dharmendra, also known as Dharam Singh Deol.

The complaint claims that Kumar was offered a franchise opportunity for a Garam Dharam Dhaba location on NH-24/NH-9 in Uttar Pradesh. In September 2018, Kumar handed over a cheque for Rs 17.70 lakh, but the accused stopped responding shortly afterwards.

The accused have been directed to appear before the court on February 20. The Delhi court found sufficient evidence to support the charge of cheating and criminal conspiracy.

The documents submitted in the case, including a letter of intent with the restaurant’s logo, indicate that the transaction involved the Garam Dharam Dhaba franchise and was pursued on behalf of Dharmendra.
